This inspiring full-day training explores the powerful connection between purposeful physical movement and children’s learning, development and readiness for school.

Led by Darlene Koskinen, founder of MoovKids in Finland and a leading specialist in early years movement education, this highly practical workshop will explore how diverse and purposeful movement helps build the neural pathways that underpin children’s learning, communication, confidence and academic readiness.

Throughout the day, Darlene will guide practitioners through the links between movement and key areas of development, including mathematics, literacy, communication and personal and social development. Combining theory with practical application, the session will provide educators with immediately usable strategies that can be taken straight back into their settings.

The training will explore:

  • Why movement matters for children’s development and learning
  • The core areas of physical development and their importance
  • Fundamental movement skills
  • Practical, accessible ways to develop these skills using materials and resources already available in every school
  • How purposeful movement can be embedded into everyday routines and teaching and learning

And then… see it in action!

A unique highlight of the day will be the opportunity to observe Darlene teaching a live class of Year 2 children. Practitioners will be able to see her approach, strategies and understanding of movement and learning in action, providing an invaluable opportunity to connect the theory and practical ideas from the workshop with real classroom practice.

An inspiring, practical and highly engaging day for educators who want to understand the vital role movement plays in helping children learn, develop and thrive.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day. Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary requirements by contacting info@claredevlin.org
